Common Facility Centre for SHGs Inaugurated at Bekhuliang Village

Tezu, March 31: A Common Facility Centre (CFC) equipped with hand-driven knitting machines for Self-Help Groups (SHGs) was inaugurated at Bekhuliang village under Sunpura block in Lohit district on Tuesday.

The centre was inaugurated by MLA Dr. Mohesh Chai under the Livelihood and Enterprise Development Programme (LEDP), sponsored by NABARD and implemented by the Arunachal State Rural Livelihoods Mission (ArSRLM).


SDO Sotailum Bellai attended the programme as Guest of Honour, while AGM (District Development), NABARD, Kamal Roy, and ZPM Sunpura, Gulapso Bellai, were present as Special Guests. Several officials, SHG members, and village elders also attended the event.


The programme began with a ribbon-cutting ceremony followed by a welcome address by BMM, BMMU Tezu, Takar Hakom. A welcome song was presented, and dignitaries were felicitated with traditional handloom products made by the local knitting unit, Bekhuliang Ki Bunaai.


A presentation by Chanyo Wangsa highlighted the journey of the knitting unit since 2023, showcasing its progress and achievements.Addressing the gathering, ZPM Gulapso Bellai lauded the SHG members for their dedication. DIPRO Lohit Nyatum Doke emphasized the importance of maintaining quality and building strong market linkages for sustainable growth.


Kamal Roy spoke about NABARD’s initiatives to promote rural livelihoods and highlighted opportunities such as ONDC, Rural Mart, and Rural Haats. He stressed the need for GI tagging, compliance, and formal business registration, while also noting the role of cooperatives in rural development.
Guest of Honour Sotailum Bellai appreciated the collaborative efforts of ArSRLM and NABARD and encouraged stakeholders to make effective use of institutional support.
An inspiring success story was shared by Theptomai Bellai from Bedagam village, who spoke about overcoming challenges to achieve economic stability.


In his address, MLA Dr. Mohesh Chai termed the inauguration a historic step, noting Bekhuliang’s transformation into a centre of enterprise. He emphasized income generation alongside savings and announced plans to introduce training on computerized knitting machines in the future.


The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Karpe Kamsi Bellai, who expressed gratitude to all stakeholders and reaffirmed the unit’s commitment to sustainable livelihood development.
