DDMA conducts Community Volunteer Training at Tajgi, Keyi Panyor

Tajgi, 5 November : The District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Keyi Panyor, inaugurated a three-day Community Volunteer Disaster Response Training Programme here at Tajgi, Paramputu.

This initiative marks the start of a district-wide campaign to create a robust network of 100 trained community volunteers who will serve as first responders during disaster emergencies. The programme aims to enhance community preparedness, response capacity, and resilience at the grassroots level.

The training is being conducted under the supervision of seven NDRF-certified community volunteers, who now serve as instructors, supported by two disaster response experts from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and the Regional Response Centre (RRC), Ziro.

  • Rope Rescue Techniques
  • Disaster Safety Protocols
  • Community Preparedness

Following the inaugural session at Tajgi, additional training batches are scheduled at:

  • Deed: 10–12 November 2025
  • Yazali: 13–15 November 2025

Speaking at the launch, DDMA officials underscored the critical role of community participation in disaster management, emphasizing that “a well-prepared community is the first line of defense during any crisis.”

This initiative reaffirms DDMA Keyi Panyor’s ongoing commitment to building a safer and more resilient district, empowering local citizens with the skills and confidence to respond effectively in times of emergency.
