Itanagar, 25 May : Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Monday reiterated the Arunachal Pradesh Government’s commitment to maintaining a fair, transparent and merit-based recruitment system while addressing the felicitation and distribution ceremony of appointment orders to 404 successful candidates of the Junior Engineer Combined Recruitment Examination (JECRE) 2025 conducted by the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission.

Congratulating the newly appointed Junior Engineers and their families, Khandu said the achievement of the selected candidates reflected their hard work, dedication and merit, along with the support of parents and well-wishers.

Highlighting the scale of the recruitment process, the Chief Minister informed that 9,023 candidates had appeared for the written examination, of which 1,236 qualified for the interview stage, leading to the final selection of 404 candidates.

Khandu praised the Public Service Commission for conducting the examination in a transparent and time-bound manner. He noted that the Commission was recently awarded the State Gold Medal during its 40th Foundation Day celebration and also received the Chief Minister’s Award for Excellence in Public Administration for its reforms and efforts to restore credibility and integrity in the recruitment process.

Recalling the reforms initiated after irregularities surfaced in the Commission in 2020, the Chief Minister said the State Government undertook a comprehensive overhaul of the institution by addressing loopholes through consultations with experts and stakeholders. He stated that the Commission has since evolved into a credible institution successfully conducting transparent recruitment for Group A and Group B services.

Khandu also highlighted the role of the Arunachal Pradesh Staff Selection Board, established in 2017, in streamlining recruitment for Group C posts and ensuring equal opportunities for aspirants irrespective of influence or connections.

Encouraging the successful candidates to aim higher, he urged them to prepare for examinations conducted by the Public Service Commission and even the Union Public Service Commission in the future.

The newly appointed Junior Engineers have been recruited in key departments including Public Works Department (PWD), Rural Works Department (RWD), Urban Development & Housing, Public Health Engineering & Water Supply, Hydro Power Development Department and the Department of Power.

Describing Junior Engineers as crucial to the State’s infrastructure development, Khandu stressed the need to maintain quality, transparency and timely execution of government projects. He said shortage of technical manpower had emerged as a major concern during recent district-level reviews and expressed confidence that the new recruits would help bridge the gap.

The Chief Minister informed that the government would soon facilitate professional training for the engineers in collaboration with reputed institutions before their field postings. Initially, they will be posted in planning and design wings to gain technical exposure under senior officers before taking up field responsibilities.

Emphasizing the importance of planning and design in engineering works, Khandu urged the recruits to learn thoroughly during their early years of service to efficiently handle future responsibilities.

Calling upon the youth to contribute positively towards society, the Chief Minister encouraged educated youths to guide unemployed and uneducated youths towards productive opportunities and explore entrepreneurship and government schemes beyond conventional employment avenues.

Referring to the rapid expansion of the hydropower sector in the State, Khandu said Arunachal Pradesh is witnessing investments worth nearly Rs 2 lakh crore due to the vision and support of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said the investments would significantly transform the State’s economy and create opportunities for the younger generation.

Reiterating that honesty and transparency remain non-negotiable principles of the government, Khandu urged the recruits to work with sincerity, dedication and the spirit of “Team Arunachal” while serving the people of the State.

Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein, ministers, MLAs, the Chief Secretary, senior officers and officials of various departments were present at the programme.
