Yazali, 25 October: An orientation-cum-demonstration application registration drive was held
for the PM Vishwakarma Yojana in Keyi Panyor today initiated by the District Administration. This flagship initiative by the government of India is designed to elevate the socio-economic conditions of
traditional artisans.

Addressing the gathering of PRI leaders and artisans, Deputy Commissioner Keyi Panyor Shweta Nagarkoti Mehta outlined the PM Vishwakarma Yojana’s inclusion of 18 traditional trades, such as carpentry, boat making, blacksmithing, goldsmithing, tailoring, and more. She highlighted the scheme’s commitment to product enhancement, market integration, and linkage to platforms like GeM and ONDC, emphasizing its opportunities for artisans to expand their reach nationally and internationally.

The State Level Project Management Unit (SLPMU) introduced the scheme with
video and interactive presentations. Artisans engaged with the team to understand
eligibility requirements, the scheme’s skill development, and loan components.
Additionally, district officials collected artisans’ feedback and queries, encouraging
them to participate and benefit from the scheme.

Approximately 140 Gram Panchayat Chairpersons and artisans attended the orientation program with GPCs and were guided in detail through the verification process. They were urged to address pending
verification stages to facilitate artisans’ access to skill development and loans, which
will further empower them to scale their businesses and showcase their
the craftsmanship on broader platforms.

The event saw the presence of key officials, including Dr. Mumne Borang (EAC Yazali), Takhe Tamo (DDI-Lower Subansiri), Mudang Tago (ADI-Lower Subansiri), Punyo Mali (EO-Industries), Michi Tara (DNO-Lower Subansiri), and Toko Anu (DNO-Keyi Panyor), as well as staff from the District Industries Center.
