IMC Mayor Phassang represents Arunachal at National Conference of Mayors

New Delhi, 26 November: Tamme Phassang, Mayor, Itanagar Municipal Corporation (IMC), represented the state at the National Conference of Mayors and Chairpersons under the 16th Finance Commission, held at the iconic Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. The event has been organized by the Government of India, brought together visionary leaders to deliberate on strategies to enhance urban governance, financial planning, and sustainable development in cities across the nation.

Addressing the conference, Mayor Phassang emphasized the importance of inclusive growth, financial empowerment of urban local bodies, and fostering citizen-centric policies. He highlighted the challenges faced by emerging cities like Itanagar and urged the commission to prioritize equitable resource allocation to ensure holistic development.

Phassang proposed several innovative ideas to transform urban landscapes in Capacity Building advocating for training programs to enhance the skills of municipal staff and strengthen governance mechanisms. He encouraged leveraging technology to improve service delivery and promote green infrastructure.: Phassang also called for Sustainable Development investments in renewable energy, waste management, and eco-friendly urban planning to combat climate change
