World AIDs Day observed at DNGC
Itanagar, 02 December : Dera Natung Government College (DNGC), Itanagar Observed World Aids Day with the theme ‘Let communities lead’. The event was organized by NSS Unit & Red Ribbon Club of the College.
Essay competition, Drama and Awareness Session were conducted based on the theme of HIV/AIDS.
Dr. Chello Lima, NSS Programme Officer-cum-Coordinator of Red Ribbon Club highlighted the importance and reasons for celebration of the day while motivating the students to break down the barriers and support communities leading the way to end AIDS.
DNGC Principal Dr. M.Q Khan appreciated, motivated and encouraged the students to take more active part in spreading awareness about HIV/AIDS by optimum use of the social media platforms. He also delivered a session on causes of HIV/AIDS and in his speech quoted ‘Know AIDS for No AIDS’ because there is no cure to it.
Lod Yebi, Peer Educator of the Red Ribbon Club delivered a presentation on the Causes, Symptoms, Preventions and Treatment of HIV/AIDS. Drama was performed by the NSS Volunteers which showed how HIV/AIDS Virus is transmitted and the level of trauma that an infected person and their family member undergoes.
The students actively participated in the essay writing and quiz Competition. More than 150 students from various departments of the college took part in the competition and attended the awareness session. The prizes were distributed to winners of the competition at the end of the programme.
