CM Pema Khandu Hands Over Appointment Orders to 21 Assistant Professors
ITANAGAR, October 15 : Chief Minister Pema Khandu today handed over appointment orders along with posting places to 21 successful candidates of the Assistant Professor Examination 2026 conducted by the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC), emphasising the need for their immediate joining in government colleges across the State.
With the academic session already underway and teaching posts lying vacant, the Chief Minister said the appointment process was expedited to ensure that students do not suffer due to delays in faculty deployment.
Congratulating the newly appointed Assistant Professors, Khandu reiterated his Government’s commitment to fair, transparent and merit-based recruitment, stating that every government job aspirant must get a level playing field based solely on merit. He acknowledged the role of APPSC and the Arunachal Pradesh Staff Selection Board (APSSB) in ensuring merit-driven recruitment.
Highlighting the importance of teachers in nation-building, the Chief Minister said that human resources, rather than infrastructure alone, are the true measure of development. He urged the new appointees to discharge their responsibilities with dedication and sincerity, reminding them that their role extends beyond teaching to shaping the future of students and society.
“You on your own chose this profession, prepared for it and appeared for the examination. You worked hard to achieve success. Now it’s your turn to do justice to what you have chosen,” Khandu told the appointees.
The recruitment will help fill vacant teaching positions in government colleges under the Department of Education while providing employment opportunities to the State’s educated youth.
According to the APPSC, the posts were advertised on January 22, 2026, and the viva voce examinations for the 21 vacancies were conducted on August 18 and 19. The results were declared on August 19.
A total of 263 applications were received across five subjects, of which 66 candidates were shortlisted for interviews and 21 were selected.
Mathematics and Chemistry accounted for six appointees each, followed by Physics with five. Anthropology and Sociology had two appointees each. Sociology recorded the highest number of applications, with 86 candidates competing for two posts, followed by Anthropology with 32, Chemistry with 50, Physics with 48 and Mathematics with 47.
